Phat Ride Mama

So some mock me because I may drive a very yuppy vehicle. I drive a Volkswagen Jetta Station Wagon. The ultimate family sedan. Previously I drove a VW Rabbit. Quite small yet roomy on the interior and fit the two children just fine. But the two doors drive me bonkers. My fabulous Jetta station wagon came with not so fabulous hubcaps - bleh!!!

After one of the hubcaps fell off after changing the brake pads, my husband decided it was high time for rims. Because heavin forbid we spent $59 on a new hubcap, let's spend more on rims, locking lugs and center VW caps. LOL....

After collecting 90% of the pieces (center caps are still being collected) my ride is now uber fabulous. The "spider rims" that now adorm my wheels make the car look like a completely different ride.

We went out this past weekend to the store and as I got the children out of the car, my daughter bolted towards the front door with my husband and Logan was taking his time (as usual). He turned and looked at the car and sort of cocked his head and said "Phat ride, phat rims, do you love them mommy?"

The Not So Fabulous Mini Me

It's true that a part of you, maybe the worst or the best, finds its way into your children. My husband is Italian and often times wakes up "yelling" (his version of talking in the very early morning). His mini me (aka our daughter) also wakes up out of a dead sleep immediately shouting from her crib. She's so loud you could swear she's right in the bed with you. No, her door is closed and she is small for her age, and the magnitude of her vocal chords is tremendous.

I put her in her highchair after being woken from a dead sleep by her shouting and strange bird calls and she began to get crabby. Very crabby. She was squawking in her chair, pointing her index finger at me and yelling. I swear it made complete sense to her and I was baffled. I stood there wondering if this was directed at me. I made the mistake of making eye contact. She yelled louder and started to jerk her small frame around and then thrash around in her plastic chair. I hurried for her milk and cheerios, apparently not moving fast enough because her finger pointing began to have a rapid movement and now both fingers were being pointed at me.

My husband walked in confused too. Then it hit him. The female infant version of him had woken him up and had caused his morning to start out the wrong way. He was now crabby. There they were two grumps staring each other down in the kitchen.

Had she outdone his own wretched morning behavior? Was he defeated by the one year old little girl?

Say "Cheese"

Before we moved to hot hot Arizona we lived in Buffalo, NY. Yes, where it snowed some six feet or more in very short period of time.

But I loved the cold. And I was much better at taking pictures back then than I am now. There is a picture of our old dog, Charlie, a yellow/white lab my husband had for some 11 years. Occasionally our son picks the picture up and kisses and says "I love Charlie".

I was talking on the phone with my husband today and he told me Logan found a picture of my husband, Logan and Stella and was carrying it around
saying that was them in the picture and that was daddy. And he kept hugging my husband.

I took up scrapbooking to memorialize these precious moments and finally put some order into the pics I had so lamely thrown into an unmarked box.

I found pictures of myself in the box. Pre-children pictures. Naturally I was at a bar, with a drink in hand and with my hot girlfriends. Although I don't always feel 'hot' now I know there nothing more fabulous than a real life picture of a very happy family!!!!

Rise and Shine It's Breakfast Time...

I love to bake/cook. Love Love Love It!
And since having children it has become even more important that I am consciense of what goes in their food.

Our children love anything I make. Sometimes when we are tucking in Logan he asks if I can make eggs and bacon (or macon as he calls it sometimes) and something
else to complete the "special breakfast". Some mornings doughnuts do the trick but other times he wants a full out breakfast!!!

Scrambled Eggs:
4 cage free brown eggs
a few tablespoons of organic half n half
a few slices of butter for the pan
salt and pepper
and some gruyere cheese for mixing in

Yummy!!!!

I have a waffle maker too and make waffles on Sundays for us!!!!

Logan loves poached eggs too!!!!!! Stella is finally getting into breakfast foods. Who doesn't love a homemade waffle with slid strawberries and some cream? Tell me, who?

Finding Ways to Sew Love into your Everyday Life

I recently purchased some darling fleece fabric for the children. I let Logan pick his fabric out and I picked out some coordinating chubby bird fabric for Stella. I think I will make blankets for each of them for the cooler months ahead. I used to sew all of the time. I am going to get back into it. One big project at a time, quilts were my thing.

Do you sew? Would you sew?

I think it's relaxing. Very relaxing. I used to bring my sewing machine with me everywhere when I was a kid. My mother had me take lessons from when I was a little girl. Turned out to be excellent for coordination and kept me busy doing good things, instead of doing naughty things. I grew up back east and there were so many awesome things about that - mostly the foliage, I am in the desert now, foliage - not so much!! HA!

I hope that Stella will want to sew and do all the fun girly things I did when I was a kid. Just like I hope Logan will want to do all the cool boy stuff my husband did when he was a kid. Now watch I am a woman who owns 2 pairs of pants and my daughter will be a lil tomboy and my boy will hate sports, HA!

The First Day

Good Evening All:

I have decided to start a Blog for Fabulous Women who are Mothers with Fabulous little children!!! My husband and I have 2 children. Our 4 year old boy Logan and our 1 year old daughter Stella. Early on they acquired the nicknames of Logaroni and Stellarina....

I work full time and so does my husband. And best of all I find time to spend any spare moment with "the minis" and provide them the best care that I possibly can!!!!

My husband is ten years older and if it weren't for that I think I might still be uber selfish, shopping for luxurious apparel and accessories and buying overly expensive kitchen tools and gadgets!!!!

But alas, I work hard every day and when the long day is over I come home and prepare a home cooked meal for us and then we sit down and talk and laugh and play until it's time for night night (as the kids call it).

So tell me, what kind of Mother are you, what kind of parent are you? What kind of Fabulous Woman are you? What made you fabulous enough to decide to have children and provide for them a fabulous life? Tell me if you work full time or part time; use daycare or a Nanny service; cook or do take out; clean or have a cleaning lady; single parent, married, divorced, widowed; all the stuff that makes us a family.

Families are different, it takes a strong person to care enough to have children and an even stronger person to take responsibility for their minis and give them the best life.

Let's share our secrets and thoughts, whether it's a cookbook or a person or an item, and let's help each other when times are tough and tears are more frequent....to remind ourselves that we are FABULOUS even beneath poopy diapers or tantrums or work days full of drama.....we are FABULOUS!!!!!!

And for all you Fabulous Women thinking about having children let us hear from you too!!!!!
